Hi Dee. I am new to these message boards so I hope you get this.
Elizabeth Gaffney came to the U.S. in 1849. I am assuming they came straight to U.S. but I can't find them on any passenger list. Anyway, her mother, who also came over, was named Honora Dimpsey and I believe her father's name was John. I haven't verified it yet but I believe Honora's parents were Hugh and Mary. A Patrick Gaffney was a witness at the marriage of Moses and Elizabeth in 1854 so I suspect he was her brother. The marriage record lists his name as Moses Done and I'm not even sure if that is right. It could have been a French name and the priest spelled it phonetically. All I know is he came down from Canada and one census says Upper Canada and family legend says Quebec. He was French speaking according to a census.
Any more ideas? I have been searching this for so long I am almost out of ideas. Thanks much............Margaret
