I have a copy of a letter written by son, John Henry Doak in 1969 from Campbell, CA. John Henry Doak stated that his mother was Maria Edwards b 1848 Crawford Cty, AR, daughter of Wm and Levicy Couch Edwards (married 1819 in Madison County, Al-to AR ca 1828) and that he had two daughers, one lived in Portland, Oregon and one in San Jose, CA and that he was seeking family info in order for his young granddaughter to join a lineage society someday..that he thought from family tradition..that his ancestors served during the Revolutionary War.. His mother frequently mentioned a Nicholas Couch from Al (80 years old in 1850 Crawford Cty AR census-could be same as the same Nicholas who entered 320 acres in Madison Cty, Al 1811. I wonder if Campbell Whitfield Doak is a descendant of Reverend Samuel Whiterspoon Doak who gave the prayer before the Battle of Kings Mountain, NC?
