Dear David

I doubt if the Josiah Doak of Doaksville was your Capt William's father. I checked my research after seeing your first post a while back, btw, and came up with no likely suspects. The William Doak still in Miss for the 1826 Census (I have no further data than that, alas) is a possible candidate but I have no idea whether that individual was or was not also "Trader William Doak" of Doak's Stand, nor whether he might have been William Paisley Doak rather than just William Doak.

re these Doaks .. I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not quite so sure ;-)

Best wishes

Ralph
