Dear Debby,
Although I am not aware of any connection to Champaign Co., OH, I believe the William and Mary (Wilson) Doak you refer to are the ones who married on 16 Feb 1826, and left Wythe County in 1847 with at least their 5 children and William's brother James Doak (my ancestor) and his family. They stopped in Decatur Co. Iowa, where James died 3 months later. The James Doak family remained in Iowa for awhile, but William traveled on down the river and settled in Hancock Co. Ill. James and William Doak were grandsons of Immigrant David Doak (born 1710, died 1786). Are you a descendant of Margaret Ann and William Ferrell/Terrell? I will be happy to provide additional information if you will contact me by e-mail.
Kirsten Straight
