In going through Doak queries, I came across your and I may be able to shed some light on Nathaniel Doak. By way of background, I am a gggrandson of Robert and a ggrandson of Schenckingh Moore Doak. S. M.'s mother was Betsy Moore and her father was Nathaniel Moore. This is from our family lore so am sure it is correct. Nathaniel was descended from the first colonial governor of North Carolina, James Moore. Since Nathaniel was the name of the grandfather Moore, it is logical that a grandson would be named Nathaniel. The Doaks were great about continuing family names hence all the Samuels, Roberts, James and Johns. Would appreciate any information you have on the family. prnoyes@aol.com
