Yes, I thought maybe that was a possibility. I also thought of Josiah's eldest son as possibly being the father, as his name was William H. I have never seen anywhere what the "H" stood for though. In 1850 he is the only child of Josiah and Elizabeth living in Nueces Co. with Josiah. In the 1860 census he is in Missouri (I think that is him).
