DOAK, James Crosland QC, LLB Born May 18, 1919, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, the only son of Haughton and Rosalind Doak passed away January 26, 2008. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Shirley, children; Russell (Christine), Graeme (Mary), Crosland (Sarah), 4 grandchildren Michael (Ashley), Eric (Nancy), Lauren and Fraser. He graduated from U of Manitoba Law School in 1942. After graduation he enlisted in the army where he was appointed Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corp at Gordon Head, Victoria. He was dispatched to Holland in Nov. 1944 to join the 5th Infantry Brigade (Calgary Highlanders). For his service he received 9 military, civilian and foreign medals. Between 1945-1992 he practiced law concurrently in three provinces. His name continues with the law firm of Doak Shireff, in Kelowna. His public service includes; Director at Via Rail, Vice President of the Canadian Bar Association, Vice President of the Conservative Party of Canada, Vice Chairman University Grants Committee (Manitoba), President of the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce, National Chairman and then President of the Association of Canadian Clubs. Rotary Club of Kelowna Outstanding Service Award", Rotary Club of Victoria, Canadian Club of Victoria, the Royal Cdn Legion, Calgary Highlanders, BC Dragoons, Canadian Scottish Regiment, various Local and National positions with the Conservative Party of Canada, and a member of the Jaguar Car Club of Victoria. Jim was an avid golfer (Kelowna Golf & Country Club, member for 35 years) and since retirement his passion was photography. We celebrate his long life and the legacy of his contributions to Canada and the many organizations he served. Private family funeral services will be held in Victoria, BC on Friday, February 1, 2008. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Capri Hotel in Kelowna, BC on February 9, 2008. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calgary Highlander Regiment Fund, CFB Calgary, Calgary, AB, T3E 2T8 or a charity of your choice. 440870
