Modal R1b for SMGF Search

This is the modal (or near enough to it for the purpose) of the most common haplogroup (R1b)in SMGF. This is the one to try first when trying to extract surname results from the SMGF database. If there are only 4-6 mismatches, it is probably the correct one to use.

Results are in Relative Genetics format, which differs from FTDNA only at Y-GATA-H4. Simply subtract 1 on that marker to get FTDNA's nomenclature. Note that SMGF's nomenclature differs on several other markers. If you are using their marker frequencies, you will have to use their conversion table.

This link will perform a normal search with the modal values. Click on "Search Again," select "Sort by surname" and enter the surname desired. Choose the other options desired and click on search. Then follow procedure in the first message.

Readers may also want to note the large number of family names that are close to this modal.
