Is this not what GENEALOGY is all about. That of constantly researching, and verifiying what others have collected about FAMILY.
There is already a database on RootsWeb.com that says that it takes your input and their genealogists then extend it with other researchers input.
Problem being, that those genealogists may or may not verifiy the information before doing the combining.I have found several of their MILLS ancestors mixed in with my family MILLS and they are mixed up with other adopted children, who are not MILLS by biology.
So if you want to do the research strictly by paper work paper trails, then you have your genealogy.
However, if you want your research strictly by DNA, then that is a total different kettle of FISH.
I have already had several researchers tell me about their family trees with illegititmate children being named as MILLS in the research.
But of course, they truly are not MILLS, they are biologically of a totally different surname. Not necessarily MILLS.
Another MILLS family tree line, does admit to the Uncle having a child by his niece. So in that instance, the child is biologically a MILLS both by the father, "The Uncle" and the "Mother, the Niece".
So how many of us have married our own cousins, without our knowledge. What is the percentage of that happening as well.
Young girls were sent away after all to have their babies at their "Maiden Aunts/Uncles" residence in a far a way state. And then put out for adoption, and or were raised by that "Aunt or Uncle's family.
So it is a challenge to say the least to try to find the information.
And how many children's births not recorded as that of being illegitimate in that distant town. More over it might have been said that the father was deceased, killed in the War, or by Indians, or whatever else might come to mind.
Just Food for Thought.
