Jewish and Native American

I have been told from my grandmother (paternal) that they descend from french Jewish ancestry never been able to prove or disprove it. On my maternal side I think it is likely we have Native American heritage. Again no proof. Heres my question what kind of info can I get from Dna annd how far do the DNa result go back a. I know the closest these heritage would be is 5 generations if not more. Thank you
