Hello John,

All that grumbling aside, you know you love it all, have you done the Family Tree Family Finder autosomal test for links of male and female kinfolks yet?

If not, there is a sale going on at FTDNA until the 10th of June and not later, and I have a coupon that I am willing to give you if you would like to order at well over a third off their regular price. These coupons are not out there for the general public but were offered to folks having already FTDNA FF tested as an appreciation gesture and I used one of mine and have one left if you want to post back to this message for me to send you the offer code. My offer is good for you only through today June the 7th and then I will offer it on the Genealogy-DNA Forum at rootsweb where people are clamoring for them. The interest here is to give someone a chance to use the code and not let it go by without use. It is a great deal. This is a personal and family-type offering from me to you and based on our past efforts to find your ancestry.

Further is if you would want to join our new project at FTDNA named Sons of Aodh where one of our purposes is grouping people by yDNA results when they have no matches with others of their known surname. This would give me access to your results and to study the results you have on your various tests and run your results against the FTDNA database. I am in no way claiming at being proficient at all these scientific efforts but Family Tree has some good tools available to their group administrators and I am a fairly decent researcher and we might arrive at some good solid clues of your ancestry.

You will recall that a Richard Brown was a nephew of Ambrose McKee who wrote his LW&T 1779 and same was in court for probate in September 1785 at Mecklenburg Co NC. These McKee also have connections with the same folks you were interested in out of Wilson Co TN on the property out of Shelby Co TN via Hardeman County and the Harris line and yours lived in Fayette Co TN in the mid-1800s. A James McKee was in Fayette Co TN on the 1840 federal census and carried as a veteran of the American Revolution on that census. This James McKee died in 1846 at Fayette Co TN but left descendants there. Richard Brown was also mentioned as nephew in the 1832 LW&T of William McKee at Mecklenburg Co NC. So the connection with Brown and McKee is out there and shows up on the autosomal DNA results.

While none of this is a guarantee of success it is a further investment in our family history research and the continued growth of DNA and genealogy analysis. The price we pay for DNA testing is but a drop in the bucket of what you can spend on serious ancestry searching. Just one short road trip can set you back more than the cost of one test and the results can certainly be far more rewarding and informational and long lasting. It is as important to know who you are not as knowing who you are especially with a name shared with as many as Brown.

Sons of Aodh is at:

and you would click the tab for Join Projects to join if you wished to join SOA and assuming one already has yDNA results in another project at FTDNA. For anyone reading this and interested and not yet a member of an FTDNA surname group, you should join FTDNA through their main page and select a PROJECT from the tab selections to search for a surname group in order to receive a discount in the purchase of yDNA test kits.

John, as you will recall, both my husband and I have Brown grandmothers of various degree and cousins and have location of West TN and vicinity in common with some of your searches. Perhaps there will be some last ditch efforts to work through those four million hits you just encountered on your mtDNA that proves you are not only a member of the Family of MAN but also a member of the Family of WOMAN.
