We had two kits completed in my husband's family. One was completed for his Cowan line which has returned a FEW matches that all verify connection to the family we suspected.
On the other hand....his own kit for his Jarrett line has returned with bizarre results. We have been at the proverbial "ROADBLOCK" for years now with a man who was extremely successful at hiding and apparently so were his parents before him. All of this happening in the early to late 1800's. The kits results just add to the mystery! These familes were from the Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia area "supposedly." :-/
My husband's JARRETT kit has returned no close Jarrett matches but shows NUMEROUS matches to various names! One thing that did stand out from the list of matches was a repeate occurance of the names: James, Hill and Robertson. Can anyone help me determine what might be going on here? I'm thinking my husband's GGgrandfather might be adopted, child of another person, just lying and making up a background, Melungeon, ?????? Blood doesn't lie. Why did the Cowan kit return so simple and direct, yet the Jarrett kit returned with even more mystery to this family?
I would love to hear the thoughts of people better at sorting through DNA results/matches than myself.
