General Question
I am working with a woman to uncover her mothers family history. The mother was born out of wedlock in 1906 and abandoned then put up for adoption in 1907. We believe we know who the birth mother is and are attempting to locate possible descendents of her. Nothing is know of the birth father and we are attempting to get the court to unseal the original adoption record to see if there is any information about the birth father. It is rumored that the father was Native American. If my acquaintence were to submit for DNA testing, is it possible to deterimine if the father may have been Native American? Also, if we were to locate a descendent of the woman we believe to have been the birth mother, can my friends DNA be compared to either a male or female desendent of the suspected mother to see if there is a match?
