Hi John. Be careful when you say "For Sure." There might have been an adoption, formal or not, in the line. To really be sure you need matching mtDNA from descendants of two daughters of the same ancestor. Once you have proved the descent from the female ancestor, you still need proof of who the father was. Mitochondrial DNA will not tell you that; you will have to fall back on traditional genealogy.
