Thank you for the explanation I never thought of it that way.
I am not ashamed, just a bit surprised and confused. I'm not sure what to do with the results in regards to genealogy.
DNAtribes tells me "Top matches in Sub-Saharan Africa are less usual for people of European family origins, and suggest the possibility of a recent African ancestor. It is because this is less usual that I suggested a 21 Marker Upgrade to potentially clarify or confirm these unusual results."
I still do not know what recent means. 50 years, 100 etc.
I feel a bit skeptical upgrading and with the numbers being really low as it is, I don't know if the upgrade would make a difference.
Has anyone upgraded and had completely different results?
How did you find out your mother's parents were of mixed race descent?Did it help you uncover anything you did not know before.
I'm wondering if the company's database has a lot to do with the results....My understanding is they match you with people with the same or similar or the closest DNA.Has anyone had it come back with no matches?
