In verifying the various NPE events, we acquired one I2b1 haplogroup and at least three unique R1b haplotypes that didn't match anyone else very closely at all. The rest appear to all be "R1b1b2a1b-something. We are awaiting results on Deep Clade tests for further clarification.

Our largest (Scottish) group is a "very tightly related" one, with no single inidividual in it having more than two differences from the group haplotype as yet. This group is amazingly solid but when counting the markers where a difference from the group haplotype is found, there are a total of sixteen such markers out of the 76 being tracked. There are only two in that group who show the exact same differences as each other: both derive from one of the earliest ancestors.

Between that group and the Irish ones, there are up to 18 haplotype differences (never more than one value difference per marker), but again, seldom more than two or three differences per individual as compared to the group haplotype. The Irish group has seven remote ancestors that can't as yet be linked in any way other than as having the same surname.

So although it all sounds terrible enough, we're far from worried because all are within the range of Whit Athey's Western Atlantic Modal Haplotype.
