Possibly not but it should narrow your search parameters. You may get multiple surname possibilities or only a few. We have one volunteer who applied to our project because his data was a very close match to the haplotype profile of one of our groups. His ggrandfather was also born out of wedlock. Further investigation yielded several other Scots-Irish surnames which were also exceedingly close matches. He will need additional markers to be able to proceed further and rule out some of them, but the test service he picked apparently does not yet have an upgrade option, so he will likely have to re-test with some other test service that does. The minimal test he selected was simply insufficient, given his situation.
I suggest that you carefully research the various test services and pick one that gives reliable service at a resonable cost. Multiple options for upgrades, and a large public database would be to your advantage as well.
