Walter,
My uncle has over 60 matches (maybe more since I have not been on his personal page lately) at 12 marker to many diffrent surnames. He is one of my lines that does not match surname and has done 67 marker. My Uncle falls in the M222 + group of Niall and the Nine hostages but is in no way close kin to his over 60 matches. If you only have one match at 12 marker what that means is that your DNA at this moment in time is rare. My other line that does not match surname only has five 12 marker matches to different surnames. We can not confirm his surname or Haplogroup even with a Deep SNP test. This line has done 25 marker with no good matches.Right now his DNA is rare.
In order for you to get a possible surname on your ancestor is to have an exact match to 37 marker or above. My Uncle who DNA tested the 67 marker does match several Gallagher ( not our surname on paper) at a distance so we know our correct surname is Gallagher or a varient. My Uncle has been DNA tested with more than one DNA company and all results are the same.
My Uncle and I also MT-DNA with more than one company and match exact. Again results are accurate. MT-DNA Full Gnome Sequence has been done on this line.
