J.
Thanks for your quick response.
If in fact two brothers with 67 marker tests do not match and they have the same father then we have all wasted a lot of money on tests that aren't accurate. This would seem to be quite impossible. If it is possible, then FTDNA or whoever did the test should come up with a plausible explanation.
The Y-DNA test performed by Family Tree may not be a test that holds up in court to prove or disprove the father of a child in a paternity suit.I don't know know what a paternity test involves and what exactly the labs compare.I do however stand by FTDNA's exact defintion of an Allele that states, "...same allele value for a male and his great-grandfather for example."This is taken from the top line of page 4 of "Understanding your 12 markers" sent along with the results of my test.I will be happy to send a copy to you.
Since there were many adoptions that have taken place in families over hundreds of years that were never recorded, bastard chn. born out of wedlock and illicit unions both in the same family as well as outside of the family, I don't believe that anything can be taken for granted.
Perhaps we will have to agree to disagree on this matter
Thanks,
Walter Weeks
