Thanks for answering and giving more information. Do you know your mitochondrial DNA haplogroup?
I had never heard of Gluten Sensitivity before my Dr. told me I might have it. After I read about it online and saw that it was a serious condition and I would need to make many changes in my eating habits and lifestyle I ordered the DNA tests myself from a lab in Texas. The test results and my symptoms confirmed the diagnosis.
The DNA test of the HLA DQ region of Chromosome 6 show only a predisposition to develop either Celiac Disease and/or Gluten Intolerance. If a person inherits one or two DQ 2 B or DQ 8 B alleles they are much more likely to develop problems. People who inherit 2 DQ 2 B alleles almost always develop Celiac Disease sometime during their life. Studies show that about 43 % of people in the US- about 3 million people - have at least one of these alleles (genetic markers) which predispose to Gluten Sensitivity.
The above is only an outline , the actual situation is more complex, involving some other genetic markers and "triggers" necessary to start off the disease process. There is an excellent article at Wikipedia for people who are interested.
