The DNA Commission of the International Society of Forensic Genetics (ISFG) makes recommendations. Sorenson Genomics, which tests for Ancestry.com, DNAHeritage and SMGF, adheres to the ISFG standards promulgated in 2006, except for Y-GATA-H4, which for some reason has been incremented by 1 since then.
There has been no indication from FTDNA as to whether they will adhere to the standards, but I would think that emails from customers might help things along.
