Some additions and corrections to my former post
Thomas Kennedy Dixon b. 3 Oct 1829 Gosforth Northumberland parents John Dixon and Dorothy Kennedy (married 3 Feb 1827 Newcastle Upon Tyne). On Thomas' marriage certificate to Isabella his profession was ropemaker and in the 1851 census, living with parents, in Byker Newcastle, he is shown working as a roper.Isabella Morris was born 13 Jun 1833 to John Morris, glasscutter and Rebecca Wilson (married 19 Nov 1832 Whickham, Durham)
I have found the Dixon family in the 1871 census under Dexin. They are in North Shields, Tynemouth, Northumberland.Thomas, 41 is working as a fireman on a steam tug.On his daughter Dorothy's marriage certificate in 1894 he is listed as deceased and occupation Engineer which would coincide with is occupation in 1871.
Children are Thomas b. 1855 Gateshead (there is a BMD record under Thomas Kennedy Dixon in Gateshead)
Dorothy b. 1856 Gateshead
Rebecca b. 1862 Newcastle (LDS records c: 5 Sep 1860 St Andrew Newcastle)
Elizabeth J. b. 1865 Newcastle (LDS records c: 8 Jun 1864 Newcastle Upon Tyne)
John b. 1867 Gateshead (LDS records 9 Feb 1867 Gateshead)
Dorothy did have a sister Isabella and there is an LDS record of a birth 2 May 1853 Gateshead and I believe I found this person working as a servant in Gateshead in 1871 census.
There is the possiblity that Thomas and Isabella also had
Mary Ann b. 1872 North Shields, Northumberland and
William b. 1876 South Shields, Durham
I still have not been able to find this family in the 1861 census but at least some progress has been made and new names to check out.
