Hoping someone can help link Hannah Dickson with Burwell Dickson; I know nothing of either of these individuals. I think (emphasis) that William Ezell’s grandchild Hannah Dickson was a Hannah Batts that had married an UNKNOWN Dickson, and that Burwell Dickson was perhaps a son or some other relation. There is some connection as seen by the recurrence of the surnames Dickson/Dixon, White, Batson & Batts in the following two abstracts:

New Hanover Co., NC: Will of William Ezard [William Ezell]. Mentions: daughter, Elizabeth; grandson, John Ezard [John Ezell], “a tract of land on the south side of Fountains Creek in Virginia, containing one hundred and forty five acres”; grandson, Isaac Rowell, …“two hundred and ninety two acres of land known by the name of Dosey?/Posey?” (in case of death while “under age” to be willed to the previously mentioned John Ezard [John Ezell]); grandson, William Batts, my shot gun; grandchildren, Hannah Dickson [?Hannah Batts m. UNKNOWN Dickson?], Lucy White [?Lucy Batts m. UNKNOWN White?], Mary Batson [?Mary Batts m. UNKNOWN Batson, probably Peter Batson], Agnes Batts, William Batts, Sarah Batts, John Batts, Baalam Batts. Executor: “good friend George White”. Written: April 24, 1773. Witnesses: Expher Killbee, Susana Killbee, Elisha Atkinson. Probated: October 1775.

South Carolina, Chesterfield District; William Horton [William Batts Horton, son of John Horton and Elizabeth Stanley who was daughter of James Stanley d. 1793 in Jones Co., NC] vs. Washington Thompson & wife Nancy, Aaron Knight and wife Winifred, Samuel J. Horton, John Horton, James Knight and wife Elizabeth, Burwell Dixon [Burwell Dickson], Sarah White, William Batson [I think, son of Peter Batson and Mary Batts], John Batt [John Batts], and Lucy Reed’s children.; It appearing to my satisfaction that Burwell Dixon [Burwell Dickson], Sarah White, William Batson, John Batt [John Batts], and Lucy White’s children, reside without the limits of this state, It is therefore ordered, that they appear before me, in court of Ordinary, on or before the 18th day of January next, to object to the sale of the Real Estate of William Batt [William Batts m. Lucy Stanley], deceased, or their consent will be entered of record.; Turner Bryan, O.D.C.; Nov. 14, 1835; November 17, 1835

Burwell Dixon [Burwell Dickson] appears to have had some interest in the estate of the William Batt [William Batts] that died in Chesterfield Co., SC. This William Batts (I think) was the grandson of William Ezell; thus William Batts was a brother of Hannah (Batts) Dickson. William Batts m. Lucy Stanley, daughter of James Stanley d. 1793 in Jones Co., NC.

I don’t know that it helps, but below is a record witnessed by a Jonathan Dickson.

August 26, 1766: Moses Sidbury, planter (New Hanover Co.) to Wm Batt [William Batts] (New Hanover Co.), ...sold 100 ac on S side of Beeslys Cr which creek divides New Hanover Co. & Onlsow Cr; border: begins at mouth of Panter Br making out of the creek, joins said branch of the "side" line of the grant, the sound, & mouth of "Beesleys" Cr; lower part next to sound of 400 ac granted Sept. 8, 1737 to James Sidbury deceased (late of New Hanover Co.) who willed to Moses Sidbury "& others". ... Witnesses: Geo Merrick & Jonathan Dixon ... recorded Dec. 1, 1766.
