It is said that the Dixons came from Scotland and were the descendants of Richard De Keith.Richard had a pretty good position and lad a lot of children. Most of them boys.Since his name was Richard, he was know as "Dick".The people started calling his children "Dick's sons" and so the name Dickson or Dixon began. This is what I've read in some of the old Quaker information floating around.Henry Dixon was a Quaker and had purchased 100 acres from the Daughter of William Penn. These Dixons were among the first Quakers coming in to Pennsylvania from Ireland.
Henry's grandson Thomas Dixon came to North Carolina and latter went back to Pennsylvania. He died but all of his family and members of most of the families they lived among came to North Carolina and settled along the Cane Creek River in what is now Alamance County.
