Dear Joy,
The Roland Dixon you have mentioned is the brother to two of my great, great, great, grandfathers. He is the son of Roland C. Dixon and Penelope Keel daughter of Hardy Keel and Hannah Peed. This Roland Dixon married Cassandra Rice on April 15, 1853 in Craven County, NC. I only have one daughter listed for them and her name is Sarah Dixon. I show that Roland was born in Craven County, NC between 1831-1832 and that he died before 1868 but I do not know where. Do you have this information?
His parents Rolen C. Dixon and Penelope Keel had the following children:
Pearce Dixon born July 12, 1812
Pharaby Dixon born June 25, 1816
Hardy Dixon born March 14, 1818 - my g,g,g,grandfather
William D. Dixon born January 23, 1820
Lenorah "Nora" Dixon born October 31, 1821
Charles Stewart Dixon born February 12,1824
Nancy Dixon born November 6, 1828
John David Dixon born November 3, 1830- my g,g,g,grandfather
Roland Dixon, Jr. born between 1831-1832
Roland Dixon, Jr. is listed in the 1850 Craven County Census under household #1355. His age is listed as 14 yrs.
James W. Dixon is the son of Hasten Dixon II. He was born about 1840 in Craven County, NC. His parents are Hasten Dixon II and Elizabeth Scott (Elizabeth is the daughter of Cason Scott and Mary Holton.) His parents were married on March 14, 1823 in Craven County, NC. He has eight siblings. Their names are Margaret Dixon born abt. 1827
Lewis Dixon,born February 14, 1831,
Elizabeth Dixon born Between 1831-1833.
Hasten Dixon III, born on December 18, 1832.
Elaine "Laney" Dixon born in about 1833.
Haslum Dixon born about 1835.
Maria "Mary" Dixon born about 1837.
Miller Dixon born about 1838.
James W. Dixon born about 1840.- James is listd in both the 1850 and 1860 Census.
This Roland Dixon and James W. Dixon are both descendants of John Dixon, Sr. who is the son of Walter Dixon, Sr.- (born about 1682) of Pitt County, NC. - Records of Walter Dixon, Sr. can be found in the Boyd Family Manuscript Collection at East Carolina University Joyner Library, Greenville, NC. I believe the collection number is 253.1.
I would love to have a copy of the muster roll for both of these men.

Thank you for sharing this information.
