Hi Brian,
We are back from vacation.Your e-mail address is blocked out of my message, so I must reply on line.I loved all the information you have found. What a great job!
My only clue to persuing this couple comes from a note from my grandmother, Carrie McNaught Liggitt, which read as follows:
JAMES DIXON FOUGHT IN THE BATTLE OF TICONDEROGA IN THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR.THE CITIZENS OF BOSTON PRESENTED HIM WITH A GOLD HEADED CANE FOR HIS BRAVERY IN THAT BATTLE.
She goes on to explain that he married Rachel Garnet and had Elizabeth who married John Barron and had Mary Barron.Mary wed Andrew Walker and had Sara Ann Walker who married William Henry Baker. They had Mary Malvina Baker who married William McNaught and had my grandmother, the aforementioned Carrie.I guess that would make them my 5th great grandparents.
Where did you go to find all your information?I have gone to the library to read about the Battle of Ticonderoga amd found that Ethan Allen caused quite a bit of trouble there. He was a loose cannon.I presume James was not with him. With the new information from you, I may now try the Mormans again. I got nowhere with them before.Feel free to use my e-mail address.I presume it is displayed with my messages as I have requested.Mary Lu Mertz
