Daniel Dixon/Dickson Glengarry, Ontario, Canada
I have just discovered the first reference that my greatgrandfather, Daniel Alexander Dickson (b 14 March 1849 Ontario; d 1932 Ontario) used the "DIXON" spelling of his surname. The record was the 1901 "Fourth Census of Canada" where he is found with his wife Maragaret (MEAGHER) and 6 of his 7 children: Maud (b 11 Dec 1876), Frederick (b 15 Jun 1881), James (b 15 Feb 1883), Agatha (b 9 Jun 1885), Clement Elexis--my grandfather--(b 12 Jun 1888) and Francis (b 5 Jun 1885).
If this is familiar to anyone, please get in touch.I am at a loss as to where to turn now to find more detail on this line.My grandfather, Clement, came to the States in 1919 and shared very little about his background with his family. He died in 1955 and even those who may have known more have vague memories or they themselves have passed.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
