Over the past few months, I have come to the conclusion that Alice/Alcie may have been a Dixon but have no proof as yet.I am aboutconvinced that she was not a Rucker. No proof of that either. What I do have proof of is that the marriage of James Dixon and Mary Wood was not that of Robert's son but that of his grandson and James Dixon namesake. I have a 1831 deed signed hy James Dixon and Elizabeth Cardwell and William Amos and Sarah Cardwell so I know Elizabeth was alive in 1831.I also know that William Had son of that name from his 1859 will. The son's name is on an 1833 Butler County Tax Roll with that of his father. The son moved to Galia Co., Ohio prior to 1836 as the 1850 Census of that county shows two children being born in Kentucky and, in 1836, one in Ohio.
I am also convinced that Robert came from Ireland and was not one of the Virginia Cardwells as some have tried to prove.
If you contact me at [email protected], I will forward some information I have been exchanging on Robert and spouses.
