I believe from my research that the USA branch of the DITTON family are descendants of John DITTON born Woodchurch, Kent and Bennett KING born Woodchurch. There is a certain amount of confusion as there were two John DITTONs born in Woodchurch at about the same time---- John DITTON baptised June 20th 1784, son of Daniel and Eleanor DITTON (nee BLATCHER) and John DITTON baptised November 18th 1787, son of Richard and Elizabeth DITTON.
There is an excellent site for Woodchurch ancestors which gives lots of details of BMD etc

There is a large family group of the DITTON family of Woodchurch in Australia and I feel sure the USA and Australia branches are all connected, but I have not yet been able to verify this.
