Hi Mike
I am trying to sort out the confusion between THREE William Dittons born in 1820s at Woodchurch. Do you know when your Obediah, brother of William (bap. 13 June 1821) sons of John and Bennett Ditton went to America. Did the whole family go or just some of the children ?
Another William Ditton bap. 21 Mar 1828, but most likely born some years prior to this, was the son of Robert and Catherine Ditton and from information given on the list by Jo Ann Ditton the family emigrated to New York in 1828.
The third William Ditton son of William and Elizabeth Ditton was baptised at Woodchurch in 1828 and is I believe my husband's gggrandfather, and as far as I know remained in England. If I am able to 'prove' that the other two William Dittons stayed in America, it would be a great help to me.
I have made a list of Ditton Baptisms for Woodchurch from the Parish Register and just in case you don't have them, these are all children of John and Bennett Ditton that I could see. One of the entries was not too clear and if your Obediah was bap. in 1811 then it was him !! The rest are
