I am also a descendant of the Joseph Ditto + Eleanor/Helena Grim(m)line through a daughter of theirs, Mary.It seems that there were threee families that came from Alsace to Conewago Twp, Berks Co, PA and then moving to Perry Co, OH.They were the Finks, the Dittoes and the Kintzes. (All with varying spellings.) The Kintz line is also mine as my Mary Ditto married Jacob Kintz. From a copy of a letter passed on to me by other Kintz researchers,
"Frederick J. was born 11 Feb 1813, the second child of Jacob [Kintz] - b 1789 and Marry Dittoe daughter of Joesph Dittoe and Eleanor Grimm. (one of their 9 children)
The story is that the Kintz were mainly of German stock with a mixture of French.
The Dittoe and Finck were kin coming from the same village wheich was on the Maginot LIne and destroyed during WWII but rebuilt. This village Rountzheim is about midway between Hagueneu in French and Baden in West Germany."
I would like to thank you, Gary, for sharing your information via this forum. It was valuable to me and evidently to others as well! Kind regards and happy researching!
