Michael DITMAN md Alcinda GILMORE married 6 Feb 1832 in Rockingham Co, VA. 1830 No Michael Ditman in the 1840 Census Rockingham: Lucy Ditman, Rhm 122, could this by Alcinda? It's a female 20-30 [just the right age] living alone. So where is Michael? He's selling land thru 1844 so he should be around. Her marriage bond lists her as Lucinda so she could very well be Lucy. She is on the same page in 1840 as Jacob Coogler, Robert Gilmore, and a Mary Ann Ditman with 1 female <5, 1 female 30-40 and 6 "free colored persons" & no slaves. Two pages before is Henry Gilmore and Wm Deperty. 3 pages after is a Jacob Ditman 60-70 with one female 60-70. These may be Michael's parents. In 1835, George Ditman & Nancy Tiler marry. Maybe George is Michael's brother. Can anyone help with Michael Ditman? He and Alcinda/Lucinda probably left the area. Where did they go?
