Dick,
You should be able to find your James Franklin Dison on FamilySearch.Org(1880 Census only). I tried to find my James F.Dison but the census webpage did not work right.
I never did try to find Thomas Dison's children in the census because Catherine Dison who Married Hiram York was the one I was Looking for, She is my great-great grandmother, Her daughter Rosanna York is my great grandmother so i was only looking for their father and sibblings, i wish i had looked them up in the census. I do not have any access to any other census but the 1880 census on FamilySearch.org. I believe your grandfather and great grandfather would be found in the census. Have you tried that route.
You can not get a quick reply on the Dison page on Genforum because few people use it, I think rootsweb.com would probably be better for the Dison research and the genweb pages of the County and State you are looking for.
I will continue to try to find my James F. Dison on FamilySearch.org and i will tell you what i find.
Sincerely,
Mark Jackson
