Reference DISHMANS in America

The name DISHMAN is the anglicization of the French name DUCHEMIN or du Chemin in old French.
There were 2 Duchemins who came to Americia and changed their name to DISHMAN
Samuel Duchemin came to Westmoreland County, Va. Prior to 1693 (this is my ancestor) His descendants for the first several generations have been fairly well documented.
Daniel Duchemin was in New York in 1687 and later in the area of Richmond, Va. and
his descendants went to western North Carolina. ( In Iredell County in 1798)
These 2 were Huguenots and fled France
to escape death by the Catholic Church.

Kiziah Dishman acquired l00 acres of land
in Iredell County, NC from the State of
North Carolina in 1798 and transfered this same land to her son Lewis Dishman in
1804. Lewis had 2 Brothers Jefferson and
James.
Many of the Dishman in Kentucky and
Tennsees came from Western, N. C.
in the early 1800s.

I have abundance of information on the
descendants of Samuel bu very little on
the descendants of Daniel.
