Wow! I really didn't expect to hear from anyone about this family -- and so soon.

I am a grandson of AGNES DIRKSEN EDIGER, b. 29 Jan 1873 in Sparrau, Molotschna Colony, Taurida Province, Ukraine (South Russia), who was the 8th child of MARTIN and KATHERINA REIMER DIRKSEN.

Death certificates state that MARTIN K. DIRKSEN was born 24 Feb. 1836 (place not known) and KATHERINA REIMER DIRKSEN was born 27 Nov. 1840 in Ruckenau, Molotschna Colony. MARTIN DIRKSEN died 4 August 1915 in Inman, Kansas; KATHERINA REIMER DIRKSEN died 8 Feb. 1925 in Hutchinson, Kansas

I have a microfilm document of the ship manifest listing them as passengers arriving in Philadelphia 29 June 1877 by way of Antwerp, Belgium on the "Vaderland" with 8 of their children, Agnes being the youngest.

According to the 1880 Kansas Census, they were residing in Diamond Valley Township, Morris County, Kansas, which is where their last born child, John, was born 5 July 1879. They later relocated to the Inman, Kansas area, according to family oral history.

Willing to share what I have and anxious to learn more about your research. Will e-mail you directly with other info on the sibings of MARTIN and KATHERINA DIRKSEN.

Verne Ediger
