My Dirksens are from Iowa, however family stories suggest they are related to the Illinois Dirksens. My g-grandfather, John Dirksen came from Germany as crew on a ship in 1880, m. Tena Jurgens in Ackley IA abt. 1882. His oldest son, Cornelius was my gfather, his oldest son, John W. was my father. My g-grandfather came from Emden. It seems the family originated in Holland some 500 years ago. My g-g-grandfather's name was also John, who married Anna Olka in Germany. That is all the info I have. Can you connect any of yours to any Iowa Dirksens??
