Thersa: My name is Michelle Dirksen and my father who is sitting next to me is Marshall Michael Dirksen and we just started using the internet. My father is very interested in the history of the Dirksen family. His great grandfather was Anton Dirksen who originated from Gronau, Germany and his brother is Henry. He came to the U.S. in 1849 and settled in Springfield, Illinois and started a furniture business in the 1860s. He made furniture for Abraham Lincoln who of course lived in Springfield before his presidency. If you can give us any additional information relating to Anton Dirksen we would appreciate it.
