DIRKSEN SILVER FILIGREE COMPANY OF ILLINOIS. The silversmith Dirksens were in Stephenson County, Illinois whereas I was born in Tazewell County. I have not been able to establish a linkage between the two families although some folks say we "look alike." The silver is beautiful. They sold bundles of the spoons at the Chicago Fair (in the 1890's?). My wife and I just purchased an 1896 spoon at a flea market in Atlanta two weeks ago, our third piece found thus far in four years of searching. One of my sons has now found eight spoons and he reminds us of same all too frequently. The Stephenson Co. Historical Society (think that is the name) sells reproduction catalogs from the Dirksen Silver Filigree Company at a very nominal price ($3.00 - $4.00 a few years back) if you are interested in obtaining pictures of the silver. Sorry, do not have their address. Best, Tom Dirksen
