Albert Dirksen, the son of Ralph and Clara (Rusche) Dirksen, was born on August 11, 1913 in Bancroft, South Dakota. He grew up and attended school in Bancroft. In 1929 Albert moved to Fulda, MN to work as a hired man. While working in the Fulda area he lived with the Fred Johnson family. Albert was united in marriage to Henrietta Ommen on November 24, 1937 at the Immanuel American Lutheran Church rural Fulda. After their marriage they lived and farmed in the Fulda area. Albert breed and sold Spotted Poland China Hogs and feed cattle while he farmed. They retired from farming in 1981 and moved into Fulda. In 2004 they moved to an apartment at Maple View Estates. Albert entered the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda in April of 2006 and passed away there on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at the age of 93. He was a member of the Immanuel American Lutheran Church rural Fulda where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and an Elder. Albert also served on the Bondin Township Board, Creamery Board and was a 4-H Leader. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, socializing, playing cards and feeding cattle.
Survivors include his wife Henrietta of Fulda, MN; three children and their spouses, Mervin and Karen Dirksen of Burnsville, MN, Sherlene and Tom Ramerth of Dundee, MN and Roy and Mary Lou Dirksen of Dundee, MN; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emma Moore of Sioux Falls, SD and Irene Seefeldt of Clark, SD and one brother Elmer Dirksen and his wife, Myrtle of Eureka, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Edward, Erwin and Roy Dirksen and one sister, Viola Bowman.
Funeral Services
Immanuel American Lutheran Church, rural Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 14, 2006 with the Rev. Kristi Mitchell officiating. The organist is Roxanne Kremer. Special music by Connie Stenke. The pallbearers are his grandchildren, Lynn Dierks, Mike Ramerth, Tim Ramerth, Tessa Dirksen-Tindel, Dana Wieck, Kelli Otkin, Joshua Dirksen, Staci Dirksen, Sara Randall and Erin Wendorff. Interment at the Immanuel American Lutheran Cemetery rural Fulda, MN.
