My great-great grandfather was named Oldeig Diedrick Dirksen. Information I have says he was born in Hamzwermn in 1838. I don't believe there is such a town and believe he was actually born in Hamswehrum. He married someone from Loquard so this makes sense to me. Do you think there is a connection? He emmigrated to Iowa somewhere around the 1870s.
