Indian connection

Growing up we were always told by an uncle that our family name had an Indian link.

As with most Dionne's, the family originally came from France to Canada. When they arrived they settled on the I'le d'Orleans...And over the years spread out into other areas. Eventually my great-grandparents settled in Ste-Louise des Aulnaies..

I've been trying to make an Indian connection to my Dionne name for a while now but don't know where to begin. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.
