Obituary: NORTH HAMPTON - James A. Leddy, 72, of 203 Lafayette Road, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Exeter Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. Leddy was born in Epping on Feb. 22, 1931, the son of the late John S. and Victorine B. (DION) Leddy. Raised in Epping, he attended Epping schools and St. Michael School in Exeter. He was a 1950 graduate of Exeter High School. He attended St. Philip Neri Latin School in 1951, St. Thomas Seminary in 1952 and was a 1959 graduate of St. Anselm College, and attended Christ the King seminary in 1960. He resided in Hampton for many years before moving to North Hampton in 2001. A veteran of the Korean conflict, he served with the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1955. He was a platoon sergeant with Company E of the 15th Infantry Regiment and was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. Mr. Leddy worked several years as assistant director of Camp Union in Greenfield, where he taught outdoor education and conservation. He later taught high school Latin in Deep River, Conn., and Lincoln, and at Mascoma Regional High School in Canaan, and Raymond High School. He retired in 1979 after working 12 years as an employment counselor for the New Hampshire Department of Employment Security. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish in Hampton, where he served as an Eucharistic Minister and a Stevens Minister. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, the Order of Hibernians, the Knights of Columbus, the 3rd Order of St. Francis, and the Men of St. Joseph. Family members include his wife of 24 years, Elaine A. (Barrett) Leddy of North Hampton; a son, Chris J. Leddy of North Hampton; a stepson, Steven LaChance and his wife Kendra of Scarborough, Maine; a stepdaughter, Lauri Bell and her husband Tim of East Kingston; five grandchildren, Tyler, Alec, and Hanna Bell, and Connor and Olivia LaChance; two brothers, John S. Leddy of Balm Bay, Fla., and Joseph C. Leddy of Nottingham; three sisters, Joan M. Kenney of Sun City Center, Fla., Mary Margaret Kelley of Millington, Conn., and Michaela A. Castoldi of Woonsocket, R.I.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas C. Leddy, and sisters, Mary Olive Jacobs and Constance M. Hayes.
LEDDY - James A. Leddy, 72, of 203 Lafayette Road, North Hampton died Sunday, June 8, 2003. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Hampton at noon Wednesday. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. After cremation in the Phoenix Crematory, burial will be in the Leddy Cemetery, Epping. The family requests that flowers please be omitted. If desired, donations may be made to the St. Vincent dePaul Society of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842 or Rockingham VNA and Hospice, 137 Epping Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Obituary: NEWMARKET — Mary Olive Jacobs, 67, of Stanorm Drive died Sunday, dec. 3, 2000 at Exeter Hospital after a long illness. Born Oct. 11, 1933 in Epping, she was the daughter of John and Victorine (DION) Leddy. She had resided in Newmarket for the past eight years, and was a former longtime resident of Epping. She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Paul C. Jacobs, who died on Sept. 29, 2000, and her brother, Thomas Leddy. She is survived by one son, Paul L. Jacobs of Newmarket; four daughters, Sara T. Barrett of Cape Town, South Africa, Mary Joellen McGlone of Santa Barbara, Calif., Mary T. Guillemette of West Newbury, Mass., and Michaela Ann Cote of Newmarket; 11 grandchildren; three brothers, John S. Leddy of Florida, James A. Leddy of Hampton and Joseph Leddy of Nottingham; four sisters, Constance Hayes of Rhode Island, Joan Kenny of Nottingham, Mary Margaret Kelley of New Jersey and Michaela A. Castaldi of Rhode Island; several nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m. from St. Michael's Church, Front Street, Exeter. Burial will follow in Exeter cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the St. Charles Children's Home, 19 Grant Road, Rochester, NH 03867. Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, is handling the arrangements.
