Linda, I believe that this Robert b: ca 1732 in Lancaster Co., PA married Elizabeth Wilson. He was the son of James b:ca 1690's in Ulster mar an Ann ?
Robert had 6 children Mary (Polly), John, who may have been adopted according to Robert's Will, James, William, Elizabeth mar. a Patton, Jane mar Steven Wilson.
I have more on this line including Wills of James & Robert.

The confusing part, and I just discovered this within the last 6 months, is that there was another Robert Dinwiddie married to an Elizabeth approximately the same age who had migrated straight to VA and settled in Amherst Co. This Robert is suppose to be the nephew of Gov. Dinwiddie.

I'm sure with a name like this that we are all related, but am unable to prove it at this time.
