Hello David 1.I am the grandson of John Ann Dinwoodie.(See post 222 on this forum for more information) As to your questions: a.You have inadverdantly selected John Dinwoodie's birthdate (11 Oct 1859) as his and Mary's marriage date (15 Aug 1881). John was born on 11 Oct 1859 in Colvend, Kirkcudbright, Scotland. b.I know for certain that John Ann was born in Scotland. I have a copy of her birth registry information obtained by her father in Jan 1909 stating her birthplace as 43 Copland St.,Dalbeattie, Scotland on 5 Oct 1833 and her parents marriage date as 15 Aug 1881. c. You definitely have the right family but since you and Flo are using census information the ages of the children are correct but do they verify place of birth? 2.I believe the Theodore Edgar BLACK (age 20)and Mary Steel BLACK(age 17) listed under your 1881 census extract would be siblings and children of Theodore Edgar Black who Flo states came to the USA in 1886 with his wife Janet. 3.It apears the John Dunwoodie and John Ann Dunwoodie are the parents of "our" John Dinwoodie.I have information that John Dinwoodie married John Ann HERRIES in 1848. Thanks for your posting.I still am having trouble with conflicting data on the LUSITANIA manifest of 14 Feb 1909. John and Mary's ages are listed as 42 and 47.John would be 49 and Mary 46. Additionaly, Mary's grave marker in Westerly RI states 1853-1952.This would mean she bore 10 children between ages 29-50 vs. the more likeky 19-40. My family always believed she lived to be 99! I'll keep my eye on this forum for a resolution or folks can e-mail me directly. Thanks again David (and Fl0). Notify Administrator about this message?
