Hi, I am taking this from my DeWoody records book that was written by Newton Edward Brightwell II, Gateway press, Inc. Baltimore 1989. William DeWoody, brother of George who died in Venango County, Penn., was born in 1754 in County Antrim,Ireland, and died in 1820 at Cotton Port, Limestone County, Alabama. We know his year of birth and that he arrived in the U.S. in 1784 from info that he submitted when he registered as a British alien during the war of 1912. I will continue to ask and look in my book for his parents but they came from Ireland and most of the records were lost due to fire in Dublin. If you want more info about William and Hannah please e-mail me at yeehared@juno.com and I can give you much more info about my family and the closiness of family names back then. There's DeWoody, Dunwoody, Dinwiddies, etc.
