Hal, perhaps you would help me with some information. I would appreciate your input on a few questions about the Dinwiddies in the early 1800’s in Allen Co, KY area. My g-g-grandmother is Jane Dinwiddie and I have been searching for her parents. Jane born abt 1816, married my g-g-grandfather James Whitlow in 1832 in Allen Co, KY. They moved on to Graves, KY 1833-1839. They had many children together. In the 1820 census Thomas, Alexander and I believe, William, the father, are living in Allen Co. Although most literature speaks of 5 sons, the 1820 census has him (M >45) living with F 16-25, and 4 other Fs <10. Do you know anything about these girls? I have also located a William Dinverdy (Dinwiddie), listed in the 1820 census, Allen Co. Dinverdy, William M 26-44, F 26-44, F 10-15, M <10, F<10, F<10, F<10, F<10. The research states that William and James went to MO in 1818, so this can not be William the son of William Sr. However his age may make him a nephew to William, Sr. Any ideas where this William came from or what his relationship is to the other Dinwiddie’s of the county??? The family of William Dinverdy/Dinwiddie lives 2 doors down from Jesse Whitlow in Allen Co in 1820. There were 4 girls named Dinwiddie that married in Allen Co, around 1830. Jane W. Dinwiddie – James Whitlow 1832 (my line) Pauline Dinwiddie – Jesse Whitlow 1828, James’ brother, family stays in Allen Co Louisa Dinwiddie – John Davis 1828, stays in Allen Co Mary Dinwiddie – Daniel Oxford 1833, stays in Allen Co, then on to Texas by 1850 So, are these girls sisters? cousins? The 1830 census shows 2 girls had left William’s home. Could this be Pauline and Louisa?. Any comments and help identifying this William would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Barbara Notify Administrator about this message?
