I too have a Dinwiddie but no direct line to Gov. Robert Dinwiddie that had only female heirs (2). He left America also and settled back in England. I have heard that his brother did come to America and remain, but again, no proof on my line. I have one John Dinwiddie (c1770-1796) died in Person Co., NC. leaving a will. He married Rachel Newton in Person Co. and his two children were: William Dinwiddie (my direct line), he married FiDella Newton in Person Co., NC. and a daughter, Elizabeth Dinwiddie (nfr).
Rachel Newton-Dinwiddie later married Wm Ireland, and she had other children. John & Rachel's son, William moved to Vermillion Co., IN. If anyone knows the parents of John, would appreciate guidance! Thank you.
