Barb, You're correct as far as you go. William #2 married Mary Hunter in Campbell Co., VA. Hannah was also called Nancy. Archibald was married 3 times #1 Elizabeth unk, #2 Jennie Johnson - 1 son, William, & #3 Margaret unk. the rest of his children were hers.

I just recently discovered that William & Elizabeth McWilliams had a 7th child, Hugh. In his Will & codicil he mentions his son, Hugh, an idiot.

"A Codicil was added in August saying "A Codicil to my last Will and testament included within.......
as my son, Hugh, an Idiot, proves to be more troublesome...then I first expected when I made my last Will and test....... him. I therefore, allow and appoint my daughter, Elizabeth .....care of my son, Hugh to get one hundred dollars of..... of her equal share with the ??? of her brothers & sister... and likewise I allow her keep support of the farm...... the death of said son, Hugh, the hundred dollars that I......
get at the sale of land two years after Hugh's death. SIGNED William Dinwiddie WITNESSES James McWilliams, Thomas Dinwiddie, Sr., Elizabeth Dinwiddie. Thomas Dinwiddie was appointed administrator. After taking Oath required entered into bond in the sum of $200 William Johnson his security."

This is a copy of the original and has been damaged along the edges. I guess they didn't admit to having a mentally retarded child in those days.

Idiot was not a derogatory name, but was a category of mental retardation. I don't remember what order they were in, but I think it was Imbecile, Idiot & Moron.

Does anyone know of a daughter of Thomas's name unknown marrying a Chisham name unknown. He is mentioned in Thomas's Will as "my son", which was common to call your son-in-law your son.
