Michael,

I took this from Howard Horner's information which I cannot verify:

Descendants of Peter Dinkle, Jr.

1        Peter Dinkle, Jr.       b: Abt. 1770              d: 1840 in York County, Pennsylvania
..              +Hannah ?
....       2        Peter Dinkle       b: in York County, Pennsylvania
....       2        Rebecca Dinkle
....       2        Hannah Dinkle
....       2        Enos Dinkle       b: Abt. 1805 in Pennsylvania              d: Aft. 1850
........              +Abigail ?       b: Abt. 1803 in Pennsylvania              d: Aft. 1850
..........       3        Lewis Dinkle       b: Abt. 1830 in Pennsylvania              d: Aft. 1850
..........       3        Rebecca Dinkle       b: Abt. 1831 in Pennsylvania              d: Aft. 1850
..........       3        Peter Dinkle       b: Abt. 1832 in Pennsylvania              d: Aft. 1860
..........       3        John Dinkle       b: Abt. 1834 in Pennsylvania              d: Aft. 1850
..........       3        Hannah (?) Dinkle       b: Abt. 1837 in Pennsylvania              d: Aft. 1850
..........       3        Elaina (?) Dinkle       b: Abt. 1839 in Pennsylvania              d: Aft. 1850
..........       3        Maria Dinkle       b: Abt. 1841              d: Aft. 1850
..........       3        Enos Dinkle       b: Abt. 1843 in Pennsylvania              d: Aft. 1850
..........       3        Catharine Dinkle       b: Abt. 1845 in Pennsylvania              d: Aft. 1850
..........       3        Carolina (?) Dinkle       b: Abt. 1847 in Pennsylvania              d: Aft. 1850

The information about Enos is highly speculative on my part as I took it from the 1850 census.

See my notes below:

Noted in 1830 cenus Dover Township, York County, Pennsylvania
Noted in 1840 census Warrington Township, York County, Pennsylvania

No Enos Dinkle is shown in the 1850 Pennsylvania census

Bit of a leap of faith. Enos' first cousin settled in Frederick County, Virginia.

The information on his wife and children is taken from 1850 District 16, Frederick County, Virginia cenus. All of the children were living with their parents at the time of this census.

Noted in the 1860 and 1870 Frederick County, Virginia census index.

IF your Peter is the Peter shown above as the son of Peter Dinkle and Hannah ?, his ancestors would be:

Direct Descendants of Johann Daniel Dunckel

1        Johann Daniel Dunckel       b: Abt. 1709 in Strasburg, Alsace, Germany              d: November 07, 1755 in York, York County, Pennsylvania

..              +Mary Ursala Von Ernst       b: April 02, 1713 in Colmar, Germany       m: 1735       d: September 29, 1793 in York, York County, Pennsylvania
....       2        Peter Dinkle       b: July 11, 1742 in Strasburg, Germany              d: December 22, 1827 in York County, Pennsylvania
........              +Anna Elizabeth Wolf       b: Abt. 1748 in York, York County, Pennsylvania       m: February 15, 1767 in First Reformed Church, Lancaster, Pennsylvania       d: 1830
..........       3        Peter Dinkle, Jr.       b: Abt. 1770              d: 1840 in York County, Pennsylvania
..............              +Hannah ?
.................       4        Peter Dinkle       b: in York County, Pennsylvania

DAR information has helped a lot and the fact that a daughter of Johann Daniel Dunckel and Mary Ursula Von Ernst married a General in the Revolutionary War meant that the family shows up in a lot of old books.

I ALWAYS doubts though, especially when I find a biography that gives Mary Ursula a different surname:

Johann Daniel Dünckel and Maria Ursula Gornüss, his wife, who came from Strasburg, Germany,to York, Pa., about 1740.

I would VERY much appreciate having your line to add to my files. One of these days all the bits and pieces might come together.
