I saw you post on GenForum and, while I don't have anything specific, thought I'd pass along some info. Your mention of Flint is what caught my eye. A couple of summers ago I tracked down a copy of a DAR application of a women who would be close to 75 if she is still alive. Her application ended up providing me with the info I needed to connect my Mary Dingman b:1796 back to Adam Dingman.
The details on her 3rd and 4th generations of the DAR applications are as follows:

d: Feb 24, 1916, Mackinaw Twp, Cheboygan Co., MI
Pyhlena Simmons
b: Dec 09, 1837, Jefferson Co., NY
d: Jun 04, 1928, Mackinaw Twp, Cheboygan Co., MI
While your George Dingman is not shown I thought it possible that Alfred could be a brother and Jared his father. It's always helpful to have other possible to names to eliminate. Have you checked Mackinaw records?
